There's still a lot to see in the night sky — even within Douglas — as long as you can position yourself to avoid nearby line-of-sight streetlight glare. Listed below are some suggested urban locations to observe from. Ideally anywhere with open southerly views, on flat ground without direct line-of-sight of the nearest streetlights works well. Reflected streetlight poses far less of a problem when observing the night sky, so take advantage of buildings and other static objects to shield your eyes from them. It makes a surprising difference. |
